COOKING WITH DOM DELUISE
README.TXT 8/14/95
Thank you for purchasing my disc, Cooking
with Dom DeLuise. I know you'll love these
recipes, and have fun while you're making
them.
This README file contains important and
helpful hints for using Cooking with Dom
DeLuise.
Since we ended up with so many delicious
recipes and videos, we had to make two
separate discs. Depending on where you
purchased my product, you may have Disc 1
(meats, fish, poultry & pastas), Disc 2
(salads, vegetables, appetizers, breads and
desserts) or both!
If you have any problems installing or
running this disc, don't call me at home;
call Allegro New Media, instead. Their phone
number is 201-808-1992; technical support is
available from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST. In
addition, support is available from Allegro's
internet site at http://www.allegronm.com, on
Prodigy via e-mail at NYGY14E or via
Allegro's fax number at 201-808-2645.

INSTALLING THIS CD-ROM ON A MACHINE WITH
WINDOWS 3.1
Note: If you have the two disc Cooking with
Dom DeLuise set, you can install from either
CD-ROM. There is no need to do a separate
install from both disks.
1. Please shut down other applications before
running Setup. Do not remove the CD while
install is running.
2. Start Windows
3. In the Program Manager window, chose RUN
from the file menu. Type "D:\SETUP" (where
D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive) and
click OK.
4. The install program will ask you if the
destination direction (default directory),
usually "C:\COOK" is OK.
5. Click on FULL - INSTALL ALL FILES.
6. Files will be copied onto your hard drive.
A new directory will be created called COOK.
Click on yes when asked "Do you want to
create Program Manager Group."
7. You will be asked if you want to install
Video for Windows 1.1e. If you have an
earlier version of Video for Windows, install
the new version by clicking on CONTINUE or
click on EXIT to not install Video for
Windows. Do not be alarmed if a dialog box
indicates that files are being removed. Files
necessary for audio and video will be copied
to your hard disk. In order to use these
multimedia features you will have to re-boot
your machine after installation (this updates
your Windows configuration for video).
-------------------------
IF YOU RUN INTO PROBLEMS INSTALLING COOKING
WITH DOM DELUISE, PLEASE CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
1. You must have 4 MB free on your hard
drive, usually C drive.
2. You need a minimum of 4 MB of memory, but
8 MB of memory is suggested.

Installing this CD-ROM on a machine with
Windows 95
There are two ways of installing:
The first way is to let Windows 95 "auto
install" -- insert the CD-ROM into your
drive and wait for an installation message to
appear on your screen. If you want to
continue the installation, click OK. The
installation will proceed.
The second way is to manually launch the
setup program. This is done by clicking on
the START button on the TASK bar and clicking
the RUN option. A dialog box will open. Type
in "D:\SETUP", where D is the letter of
your CD-ROM drive. Click OK to proceed.
Note: This CD-ROM will auto run on Windows 95
by simply inserting the CD-ROM into the drive.

VIDEO QUESTIONS AND SOLUTIONS
Cooking with Dom DeLuise was designed to run
at VGA (640 x 480) resolution.
Some video drivers will not play the resized
video without unusual color changes. If you
have unusual color changes when you resize
the video, then try changing your video
driver to standard VGA (640 x 480) resolution
with 256 colors. This change is made from
within Windows Setup (in the Main program
group) by selecting the driver Super VGA
(640x480x256). If you still get strange
color changes when resized the video, that
means your video driver cannot properly
support the larger format. Contact the
manufacturer of your PC or VGA card for
updated drivers if this problem persists.
The first time you view a video, Windows will
profile your display to determine optimum
playback characteristics. The video and
audio sequences on Cooking with Dom DeLuise
work best on 486 level or greater machines
with fast CD-ROM drives. In order to keep
pace with these videos, it is normal to drop
video frames and small audio segments on
slower machines. A faster CD-ROM drive,
faster processor or video accelerator may
enhance the playback of these videos.
Since the videos on Cooking with Dom DeLuise
use 256 colors, machines configured for 16
colors may display videos at a lower
resolution (the videos will appear grainy).
If you are sure you have a 256 color display
adapter but can only see 16 colors, it may be
necessary to change your Windows setup.
Refer to your Windows manual or hardware
supplier for assistance with this process.
Owners of IBM Thinkpad 755CD portable
computers may not be able to hear the audio
tracks that are associated with the videos.
This problem was caused by an update to IBM's
MWAVE software, which causes a conflict with
interleaved audio from within Asymetrix
Toolbook. Contact IBM to get updated
drivers, or connect an external audio card to
the computer to hear these audio tracks.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES
USING SEARCH
The list of ingredients includes all the
items that could potentially be used in
either Cooking with Dom DeLuise disc. Your
search results may suggest a recipe that is
on another disc.
The search is an "AND" search. In other
words, if you your search items are flour and
sugar, the search will find recipes that have
BOTH flour and sugar.
